During the summer seasons of 2019, 2020, and 2022, Julian Caldiroli immersed himself in the heart of Argentina’s vibrant street circus scene, specifically in his hometown—widely known as the National Capital of Street Performances. Every summer, this coastal destination attracts over 3 million tourists, offering a rich array of family-friendly activities. Among these are the beloved street circus shows, a cultural staple that has become a family tradition for locals and visitors alike. These performances have grown in scale, with some shows attracting up to 1,000 spectators each night.
One such production, Circo a Cielo Abierto, has been a cornerstone of Julian’s circus career since 2009. Performing alongside a talented cast, Julian gained hands-on experience in all aspects of show production—developing acts, managing logistics, installing equipment, and even promoting the event by walking the beaches on stilts. His involvement in the street circus scene provided invaluable education in both performance and production.
In 2020, Julian took on a new challenge by joining Caja Negra Circo, a fresh production where he helped create and produce a show from scratch. This experience gave him a deeper understanding of directing and developing performances.
By 2022, with the easing of the COVID-19 pandemic, Julian launched his own production, De Poco un Todo Circo, in the neighboring town of Mar de Ajó. Over two months, he and his colleagues entertained hundreds of families, showcasing a range of talents in an unforgettable run of performances. One of the most cherished traditions in this coastal town is the annual season-closure festival, where all local circus productions come together for a collaborative showcase. Julian’s participation in these festivals over the years included group juggling and acrobatics routines with Circo a Cielo Abierto in 2019 and Caja Negra Circo in 2020. In 2022, Julian took center stage with his iconic “Don Batata Viking Clown” act, featuring knife juggling and interactive comedy. His performances not only entertained the crowds but also solidified his reputation as a versatile and engaging circus artist.
